Henshaws: Society for blind people Website

About Henshaws

Henshaws Society for Blind People is one of the oldest charities in the UK and in 2012 we celebrated our 175th anniversary.

At Henshaws we provide expert support, advice and training to anyone affected by sight loss, and other disabilities, so that they can develop the skills and independence they need to lead lives that are as full as possible. Our services support thousands of visually impaired, blind and disabled children and adults every year, and because sight loss affects family, friends and colleagues we work with them too.

Our doors first opened in Old Trafford, Manchester in 1837 and we’ve been growing ever since. We now work throughout the North of England, with centres and communities in Manchester, Newcastle and Liverpool. We also have a further education College in Harrogate and an Arts & Crafts Centre in Knaresborough.
